Due to its arithmetical nature it is now a very popular online game especially for use in schools as a game to teach pupils simple arithmetical procedures.

The interesting side of playing Yahtzee online is that the rules are just the same as playing the game on the table. The game itself begins with the player(s) choosing a certain combination and rolling the dice to try and get that combination. There are in all thirteen categories of these combinations. It begins with one of a kind, two of a kind, three of a kind and so on just like the “hands” game in pokers.

In each turn, a player is allowed to roll the dice up to 3 times in order to get the desired combination. On the first two rolls, the player rolls all five of the dice at once. On the third roll, the player can roll any number of dice he wants to, including none or all of them, trying to get a good combination. To get the combinations at each turn, player roles the dice three times and the score of the last roll of dice that is taken. The player can choose whether he wants to roll once, twice or three times in each turn. After the three rolls in a turn, the score is recorded in the scorecard, under any of the thirteen categories.
